Project X
Located near Mississippi Avenue and The Boise Elliot School, Project X is a 78 unit WORK-live building slated to begin ground fall 2009. Developed in partnership by the owners of PATH and Zadeyan Family Investments, the project features 200 square foot spaces designed to attract small businesses looking for flexible space to work and stay the night. The ground floor includes more traditional retail spaces, a shared courtyard, indoor bike parking and a community meeting space while the upper floors contain primarily the Work-live spaces with optional modular kitchens and three well appointed shared bathing facilities per floor. The building design is expressive of the small unit module including a randomized facade that transforms from a regular vertical orientation facing the nearby school and homes to a random configuration facing downtown. The development team has forged partnerships with local non-profit organizations to enhance the potential that the project can return some of it's vital energy to the community and Metro has awarded the project a significant grant for it's creative approach to solving transportation issues. Project X is intended to be a more humane and inspiring place in which Portland's ground level creative and entrepreneurial community can thrive.
